Mission Ball Team Start-Up Meeting

Directions:  Follow the steps in order.

1.     Have each person take a turn to share about a stretch that s/he made during the week.

2.     Have each person share on something they recently appreciated.  For instance, a movie they liked, a book they read, something nice that happened to them, or something they appreciated about a friend. Take no more than a minute for each person.

3.     Have each person share on one of their experiences from the actions they did this past week.  Were any actions particularly meaningful?  Did any actions get noticed by others?

4.     Take no more than a minute for each person.

5.     As a group, think up a name for your team that most of you like.  It can relate to your color (Red, White, Blue or Green) or it can relate to your element (fire, air, water, or earth.)  Or it can relate to your team’s charity.

6.     Choose a team captain for the day. The team captain will have various leadership duties during the day.  (If more than one person wants to be team leader, you can select based on their scores for the week.)  Give your team captain the instruction sheet that can be found in the team binder.

7.     Choose a scorekeeper for the day.  Give the scorekeeper the instruction sheet that can be found in the team binder.

8.     Each person should place their name on the Team Record Sheet in the team binder.

9.     By the end of the day, your team will be responsible for two cheers and four two-minute presentations.  Decide who will work on creating the team cheers.  (The team captain can assign some people if there are no volunteers.)  They should be entertaining and can include movement. Not everyone has to give the team cheer, but more participation is usually better.  The team can practice them at the team meeting later in the day.  If you think that you can give a presentation, volunteer for it.  Otherwise the team captain will assign the presentations later, at the start of the main team-meeting.

10.   Look over the materials and discuss any strategies that you think would help you score a lot of points.  Begin working at scoring points as soon as the meeting concludes.  Put on your T-shirts, if you wish.
